Seeking a Land Partner

To host an established Horse and Nature-Based teaching school in the West Kootenays

For April 15, 2026

Do you have unused or underutilized land that needs stewardship?

Want to contribute something beautiful to your community?

Want the pleasure and regenerative impacts of having horses on your land- without any of the labour or cost?

Let’s have a conversation and explore possibilities

What do I bring to the table?

  • A General Equine Liability Policy that will fully cover all my horse + business activities

  • 26 years of experience setting up, managing, and maintaining barns and horse-based teaching facilities

  • Experience working with and caring for sheep, goats, chickens, cows and other livestock

  • Ability to do tractor work, landscaping, snow clearing, gardening, and property maintenance

  • Capacity and commitment to give care back to the land through gardening, clean-up, trail creation and maintenance, and regenerative grazing practices

  • Impeccable communication skills

  • Desire to build a mutually beneficial relationship based on clarity, structure, boundaries and mutual respect

  • References from previous landlords and land partners

My Wishlist:

Privacy + Peace

Environment is everything for the herd and for this work. Some things I’ve found to be essential are:

  • No off leash aggressive dogs or dogs that will be stressed by people coming onto the property

  • Minimal day-to-day chaos

  • Enough space to host sessions without immediately impacting your life, and vice versa

  • Access to crown land/ quiet roads/ trails for off-property riding

  • Other people working on their own land/animal based projects on the property, creating opportunities for community and mutual support where needed

3 + acres

Ideally, land would have some of the following:

  • Existing fencing (can be mended and augmented)

  • Shelter (access to a barn, run-in shed, and/or large conifers)

  • Water access

  • Horse infrastructure like a round pen or riding ring

  • Covered storage and/or workshop space

  • Access to additional grazing in the summer months (unfenced is ok!)

  • Existing food garden needing care + attention or space to put one in

  • Trails on the property that can be created/ maintained/ improved

The Ability to Legally + Clearly Host a Business

I’m looking for a land host who’s eager to establish a clear business relationship and is willing to work toward a long term collaboration.

Some of the things we would need to figure out:

  • Will your zoning allow a horse-based teaching business

  • Will your insurer allow you to host a business on the property?

A Cabin Rental or Space for a Small Trailer

Managing a herd is a full time job, with chores often spread throughout the day. Living on the same property frees up time to maintain the deep relationships that are essential for this work.

Options:

  • I have a little trailer that doesn’t require full hookups- just hydro and access to water somewhere on the property, and the ability to put in an outhouse or composting toilet set-up

  • If you have a cabin, tiny house, or other rental available/ coming available, I’d love to talk about that as a possibility!
