For those looking for a more accessible way to get their kids in contact with animals more often, or who are looking for an incredible way to have the kids taken
care of a little longer on Wednesday afternoons, we've created an After School program. Karolane and Katie (and a member of the Mountain Horse Herd) will meet students in front of Signal Hill
School in Pemberton and walk from there to the farm. There, we'll say hello to all the animals, have a snack, listen to a story, and then groom a horse, or help out with some of the daily chores
on the farm.
Instead of including riding, we're using this program as an opportunity to reach kids who could use the support of regular contact with animals to grow their sense
of of community, leadership, and feelings of belonging. Being with animals is wonderfully soothing to our nervous and limbic system, and is an amazing, soul-nourishing way to cope with the stress
we're all dealing with in these times.
*Please note that the horses/ponies are not coming ONTO the school grounds, but will wait for students across the street. Katie or Karolane meet students on the
school grounds (look for the turquoise horse on a stick) and cross to where the animal/s are waiting. From there we will walk to the farm.
